Thunderstruck II

Microgaming's original Thunderstruck slot was one of the first Norse mythology-themed games and pretty much set the standard until Thunderstruck II was released.

Thunderstruck II features the now common, especially in Microgaming games, format of 5 reels, 3 rows, and 243 ways to win. This doesn't seem so unusual now, but any of my foxy friends who remember the release will tell you it caused quite a storm at the time!

The symbols, which still look good today, include stone 9 to Ace card ranks as the low pays, then a longship, Valhalla, a Valkyrie, Loki, Odin, and Thor. 

The betting range is between 0.30 and 60.00 per spin, and players need to land three or more matching symbols anywhere on adjacent reels to receive a prize.

The Thunderstruck II logo is the Wild, standing in for other paying symbols to form potential wins. And just like in the original Thunderstruck, any Wild win is doubled. The Wild also gives its own awards for combinations of three or more.

Thor's mighty hammer, Mjolnir, acts as the game's Scatter. Three or more are needed to get the player access to the Great Hall of Spins bonus rounds, but just two anywhere on the grid award 1 x the bet, and this increases up to 200 x the bet for five.

Thunderstruck II is packed full of extra features, and the first is the Wildstorm which can hit at random in the base game and turn multiple reels completely Wild.

The Free Spins, or Great Hall of Spins round, kicks off when three or more Scatters land anywhere on the reels. The Free Spins can be retriggered while the round is in progress, and that’s great because the more often they’re triggered, the better they get. 

When players enter the Great Hall of Spins, they'll find a Valkyrie, and the Norse gods, Loki, Odin, and Thor, all waiting to show off their powers. The first time the Free Spins are triggered, the Valkyrie is in charge, awarding ten spins with a win multiplier of 5 x. But once the round has been triggered five times, Loki takes over, giving more spins and better bonuses. Five more triggers, and Odin steps in with even more spins and bonuses, and then Thor.
