The bird-headed god Ra must be the busiest god in the whole Ancient Egyptian pantheon. He’s appeared in more slots than I’ve had chickens from the coop. And he’s back again in Ark of Ra. No prizes for guessing what the theme is then.

This Ancient Egypt-based slot is the first release from newbie developer Circular Arrow. And visually, it doesn't disappoint, with all the elements we'd expect to see on a slot of this theme. The graphics are good, although not quite as detailed and elaborate as Ra's Legend by Red Tiger, for example.

It looks like the Ancient Egyptians also played cards ‘cause the lower-paying symbols are J, Q, K, and A. These give maximum awards of between 1.5 x and 2 x the bet for 5 on a payline.  

There are some medium-paying symbols which are an Ankh, the Eye of Ra, a golden dog, and a golden bird. They award from 2.5 x to 5x the bet for 5. 

The most valuable symbols are Anubis and Ra, who give a max award of 10 x or 15 x the bet for 5. These can also land stacked on 2 or 3 positions.  

The Wild substitutes for all regular symbols, as well as giving payouts of up to 50 x for combos. The Scatter symbol is a golden temple, and 3+ activate the Free Spins. The Coin symbol can trigger the Wild Reels feature.

Just set the bet level you’re comfortable with using the plus or minus buttons beside the spin button at the bottom of the screen. 

The betting range is from 0.20 to 200.00. To form a win, players need to land at least 3 of the same symbols on any of the 20 fixed paylines. All winning combinations must start on the leftmost reel.  

Above every reel is a Coin metre, and whenever a golden Coin symbol lands on a reel, it is added to the corresponding metre. Two Coin symbols in a metre will trigger the Wild Reels.

During the Wild Reels feature, all the positions on the triggering reel turn Wild and stick for two respins. 

Landing 3+ scatter symbols triggers the Free Spins. But before these kick-off, the lucky fox who initiated them has to make a choice, do they go for: 

• 2 Free Spins with 3 Wild Reels (volatility high)
• 8 Free Spins with 2 Wild Reels (medium volatility)
• 25 Free Spins with 1 Wild Reel (low volatility)

The Wild reels can move around the grid, and Scatters can still land on top of Wilds. 3 Scatters in view will retrigger the round. 

The Ark of Ra is a solid first attempt from Circular Arrow. The Wild Reels and choice of Free Spins rounds keep it exciting and can lead to potentially some superb payouts. However, the 1000 x the bet maximum possible win is not the best me and me foxy family have ever seen.
