10.07.07 - Sing It Back, Downsie

Click the picture below to listen to the show again.

This Tuesday saw the debut of our second weekly show, and what a show it was. We heard from Suzie Quarto and The Ornate Johnsons, gave away an iPod Nano in our brand new Sing it Back contest, and saw two roomies go head to head in Town Tourney.

First up was Sing it Back, in which we heard a well known pop song, played backwards for 10 seconds. Roomies were then asked to e-mail in their answers and warned if they were the winner, they would have to ‘Sing it Back’ to us in order to claim their prize. Guesses included 2 Become 1 by the Spice Girls and Umbrella by Riana. However it was Downsie who was our winner, with the correct answer, La Isla Bonita, by Madonna. A very brave Downsie came on air and treated us to the first verse of the hit, before walking away with a snazzy pink iPod Nano.

It was then time to speak to the one and only Suzi Quarto. The self titled ‘rock rebel with a heart’ let us know what it felt like to star in the cult TV Happy Days and her autobiography Unzipped is out on August 9th. Suzie also gave away two tickets for her show at Wimbledon this Sunday, by asking players to let us know the name of he character in Happy Days and the instrument she played in her father’s band. The lucky winner was Wallflower from Blackpool. Our second guests of the evening were rising comedy duo Ornate Johnsons, who let us know the best way to tell jokes.

Kate69 and Titchty Chick and joined us for our first ever Town Tourney. The ladies representing Reading and Sunderland respectively and went head to head with five questions each about their town. It was neck and neck to start with, however Kate69 was stumped with her third question “What now defunked restaurant chain opened in Reading in 1971?” It looked like Titchy was going to romp home with the BPs until she was equally thrown by the question “A statue of what Artic living mammal can be in found in Mowbray Park?” Titchy wrongly told us it was a dolphin and only realised it was a walrus when it was too late. With the scores tied at four all it was then over to a tiebreaker that saw Kate win 50,000 bps and go through to fly the Reading flag for another week.

Don’t forget to join us next Tuesday, when we’ll be speaking to experts on how you can give up smoking, as well as playing our second round of Town Tourney. In the meantime tune in this Thursday, when as usual, we’ll be giving away bundles of bingo points with all the usual Tally Ho’s. See you then.
