The Bingo Sisters
You may have met them in the chat rooms theyre pretty well known. Because after four years apart, its not the phone that keeps these devoted sisters together its Foxy!
Aimee
I was heartbroken to leave my sister when we moved to England from Belfast in Northern Ireland. I had never imagined wed ever be apart. Wed talk for hours on the phone every day and still do. It used to worry my Mum. She thought it wasnt normal be that close. And sometimes people would ask us if it was for show - they couldnt believe that sisters could be so nice to one other.
Growing up, we were inseparable and did absolutely everything together. We shared all the same hobbies, went to the same places. I guess it was because our Mum, Clara, now 40 was so unwell back then. She has COPD, a chronic lung condition which meant she couldnt walk for a long time. Shed spend a lot of time in hospital too, so Joy and I got used to looking out for one another.
From a young age, we shared the housework. Wed put on music and dance around and do it. Of course we argued, but wed always laugh about it afterwards. We were both pretty streetwise but Joy was older so would take care of me more. She was always doing my hair and trying to make me feel special, like my best friend and a sister all in one.
Since I left Ireland, weve missed each other so much. But then one day I discovered Foxy. I rang Joy straight away saying, You have to join. Its so much fun. She said shed never play bingo. But now were in the chat rooms almost every day together, sometimes for five or six hours a day. It may sound sad, but Id rather sit on Foxy on a Saturday night than go out to the pub. I think its brilliant, especially as my sisters on there. It makes me feel like Im actually with her in person.
Joy
When Aimee asked me to join Foxy, I thought she was mad. Now were barely off it. Chatting away in the chat rooms; its our favourite thing. We always stick together, stay on the same games and see who can get the most wins. Its just so much fun. Theres such a great atmosphere and it feels as if were actually spending time together. Weve always been really really close. Everywhere I went Aimee was with me. And now weve found a virtual way to keep that going.
Well often talk on phone at the same time as being in a chat room. Aimee thinks I make her lucky, she says whenever I come on she wins. Weve made loads of friends and really like the chat hosts, theyre so much fun. A couple of weeks ago my wee girl Katie, 7 months, had a meningitis scare. Luckily it wasnt meningitis, but when I went back on Foxy I couldnt believe how many kind messages were waiting for me. Everyones so supportive.
I think Aimees going to try and move back to Ireland sometime this year. We miss each other so much, especially since weve both had kids, because now were missing them too. But well never stop playing on Foxy. Its too much fun. Us Bingo Sisters can now spend time together wherever we are. Its the best way to keep in touch. Id recommend it to anyone.
