How Your Money is Spent ....

Comic Relief Fund gives grants to charities across Britain and your money will help change lives across the UK and in Africa in many ways. Here are a few examples of how your donation money is spent:

  • £1 could pay for a phone call from a young runaway to their family to let them know they’re safe. This can be the first step to resolving the differences that led them to leave home in the first place.
  • £1 could pay for a phone call to the mobile of a young person witnessing or experiencing domestic violence at home. This helps to ensure they’re safe and gives them the chance to talk to someone so they don’t have to cope alone.
  • £4 is all it takes to provide a cup of tea and a slice of cake for 20 lonely older people when they get together at a special project which helps them feel far less alone.
  • £5 could buy a 10kg bag of seeds which a poor community in Kenya can use to grow their own food and crops. By eating what they need and selling the rest in the market, they can begin to work their way out of poverty.
  • £20 could buy clothes and toys for children who have nothing after fleeing their home with their mum because of domestic violence.
  • £44 could pay for a nutritious lunch for 100 street children in Kenya when they’re struggling to survive on their own. This brings street children to a place where they can be helped off the street and into school.
  • £50 could provide a training session for school teachers to help them detect when children are being affected by domestic abuse at home. Experiencing violence is often very traumatic and children are reluctant to tell anyone about what is happening so they suffer in silence.
  • £300 could pay the salary of an ambulance driver for a year in Somaliland. Years of civil war has left the country’s medical services in ruins and hundreds of women die unnecessarily in childbirth every week. An ambulance driver provides a vital emergency service that saves people’s lives.

Thank you once again for playing the Foxy Red Nose Bingo Games!
